The rapper/entertainer known to the world as Uiie Popcorn was born Jabari Donte Henley November 4th, 1991 in South Central Los Angeles, Calif. He is the second son of legendary L.A. street figure Eugene "Big U" Henley and educator Stacey Henley. The highly publicized incarceration of his father(http://articles.latimes.com/1992-07-21/local/me-4224_1_los-angeles), forced Uiie to be raised in a single parent household from birth until his teenage years. Although, his father was incarcerated for the majority of his life Uiie still had the support of his uncles and the advice he gained from his father upon the family visits to him. Uiie's mother a strong believer in education wanted her son to put his main focus on his studies. Uiie struggled in his scholastic studies, but worked hard to maintain the grades enough for his mother to keep him active in athletics. While his father was incarcerated Uiie's Uncle Dwayne had a major influence on Uiie's life. Uiie enjoyed spending his spare time playing and riding around with his Uncle Dwayne. At the age of 7, Uiie's Uncle Dwayne was murdered in a drive-by shooting while standing outside of a studio session for West Coast Rap Legend Kurupt, who Uiie also grew up knowing as his uncle. Dwayne's murder, still unsolved, left an impression on Uiie and provided him with his first introduction to street violence. The following month of his uncle's murder his mother and father gave birth to Uiie's younger brother Daiyan Dwayne Henley, named in honor to his uncle.
In 2004 Uiie's father "Big U" was released after serving 13 years in prison. Uiie continued to struggle in school, to where athletics wasn't enough of a motivational tool to drive his focus anymore. Uiie enrolled in Crenshaw High School, where he would go on to graduate. In fear of their son going into a criminal lifestyle his father once lived, Big U and Stacey became very involved in their son's extracurricular activity of playing football for the school. It is here where Uiie made friendship with athletes such as Deanthony Thomas, Hayes Pullard, Gregory Ducre and Marcus Martin, whom he considers as his brothers. Uiie was frequently involved with criminal activity that caused him to be on the run from law enforcement, which occasionally prompted raids inside of his family's home. Deanthony Thomas whom spent majority of his senior year of high school living in the same household was heading into his freshmen year at the University of Oregon, while Uiie was on his way to jail. After years prison visits to his father, Uiie found himself on the other side of the wall. While he was incarcerated Uiie found himself writing song lyrics as therapy. Upon his release from jail, Uiie decided that he wanted to turn his life around into a more positive direction.
