To some he is known as Robert Diaz, to others as "PH" or "Pumpkinhead". The hip hop community is mourning the loss of the veteran Brooklyn emcee. Diaz passed away at the age of 39 Tuesday morning. The official cause of death has yet to be determined, but sources do confirm that he was admitted into a New Jersey area hospital for surgery.
Pumpkinhead got his break in hip hop after a demo tape was given to legendary NY radio personality Bobbito Garcia in the mid 90's. Pumpkinheads first breakthrough single came in 1997 with "Dynamic".
Pumpkinhead has worked with various artists over the years including Immortal Technique, Jean Grae, and was in the group Brooklyn Academy alongside Block McCloud and Mr Metaphor.
Pumpkinhead has more recently been a mainstay on the battle scene competing and working with KOTD and Grind Time battle leagues.

Pumpkinhead RIP. Good brother, dope MC, OG in NYC's indie rap circuit. Used to always quote his old demos to him and bug out. Salute.
