Ed Ward - Ward's Prayer - @WestsideWard [Audio Review]

We just received the latest from SpaceLAB Recordings artist Ed Ward. "Ward's Prayer" speaks on the trials and tribulations of Ed Ward on a personal level. Jake Palumbo's soulful production is the backdrop on the track that testify's to rely on yourself during rough times. The wordplay is on point and we feel the NYC artist is repping the region properly. All in all as a total package we see Ed Ward as making some moves in the next year. He is definitely someone to look out for!

SpaceLAB Recordings proudly presents the debut single from Ed Ward – one-third of the dynamic Uptown NYC trio Gotham Heights, one-half of the A-1 project with label-mate C-Zar Van Gogh, & one-seventh of the SpaceLAB group collective Space Camp.

Produced by Jake Palumbo, the brand new single “Ward’s Prayer” displays a sense of urgency in its lyrics, lamenting on the ability to only rely on oneself for support during trying times, as well as questioning one’s faith, surely a common theme for many in today’s turbulent climate.  The beat is soulful, the chorus emotional, the verses blunt & to the point, never once asking for pity or sympathy.  The emcee, hailing from New York City’s storied Upper West Side, is fighting life’s battles head-on, as a man, & isn’t afraid to share his personal thoughts with his listeners.

Ed Ward released his first solo mixtape, Funeral Tags, in February 2012 to great approval from SpaceLAB’s core fan base (affectionately referred to as “Space Cadets”) & internet blog community, namely due to its emotional title track, up-tempo bangers like “Cry Now”, & worthy remake of the 90’s classic “Murdergram.”

Taking a slight departure from his work with Gotham Heights, the single is the first taste of what listeners can expect on Ed Ward’s upcoming solo LP for the label, which will also be produced by Jake Palumbo.  As always, Dirty, Clean, Instrumental & Acapella mixes are provided for the DJ’s & completest fans.

Ed Ward may be preparing his solo album, but Gotham Heights is still very much active, gearing up to release their sophomore LP, & follow up to last year’s The Power of 3, with The Power of 3: Part II, produced by long-time collaborator Strycc9000, this fall.

Ward’s Prayer is available on iTunes, Google Play, and SpaceLAB’s Bandcamp page:
